St. Anthony of Padua Parish began to take shape in the late 1880s, as Catholics began homesteading in the area. The first church was built in the small community of St. Theresa. By the early 1960s, there was a sizable number of Catholics in Leoti that the parish was transferred from rural St. Theresa to Leoti. The church was constructed and dedicated in 1965-66.
